Unaccompanied asylum seeking children

There are a growing number of children in the East of England who have arrived in the UK with no responsible adult to care for them. These separated migrant children arrive in a foreign country in desperate need of a warm home, clean clothes, and a loving family to take care of them.

Foster carers help them to rebuild their lives in a safe country, away from war, distruction and civil unrest, in a place where they can have a positive future and make a new life for themselves.

It's that clichéd warm and fuzzy feeling that you helped in some way. It does take a village to raise a child and I'm just really glad to be part of the village."

Suffolk-based foster carers  Andy and Sue have been fostering for almost two years. They've welomed a wide range of children into their home, from babies and younger children to teenagers, including a number of unaccompanied asylum seeking children, which they found really interesting. They had no idea about the different types of fostering that their local council needed when they got started, and have really enjoyed the wide variety of children they've looked after and helped on their way so far.
